Eszomax-LS capsules are combined with esomeprazole and levosulpiride medications, which belong to the gastrointestinal agents. These capsules are effective for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Gastroesophageal reflux disease occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (esophagus); this causes acidity, pain, and heartburn. Symptoms include heartburn, a sour or bitter taste in the mouth, and difficulty swallowing. Esomeprazole works by inhibiting the gastric proton pump enzyme, which is in charge of producing acid in the stomach. Levosulpiride prevents the reflux of food and acid into the mouth by increasing the motility of the stomach and intestines as well as the pressure on the inferior esophageal sphincter.
